Today in class we got the opportunity to play Minecraft.

It was a lot of fun and the class was very energetic. The entire class was very loud and exciting.

The version of Minecraft we played was the education version. The education addition allows for a teacher to have control over the student’s games and set it up for optimal use.

One problem I had with the game was that the survival mode was really difficult. The monsters seemed overwhelming and I do not know if I would have students play with them turned on. I personally was not able to build a house fast enough alone to protect me from the monsters. However, certain students in our class who loved Minecraft before seemed to excel. Parts that I really enjoyed were when we were able to build and the training course to help us all learn how to play. If I were to use Minecraft in an English classroom, I think I would get the students to create the setting of a story that they would write either in the game or afterwards.

I would like to thank the students who came into our class from Colquitz middle school and the teacher for the great experience!
